Roger McKasson

Painter - Bronze Sculptor colored bar Roger McKasson is a nationally advertised artist whose works have appeared in such publications as Southwest Art Magazine, Art Gallery International Magazine, Palm Springs Life Magazine, ArtLife Arizona gallery guide, The Malibu Times Newspaper, and other various publications.

He has shown his works through various Southern California Galleries and held a One Man Show at Art Center/ Palisades Gallery on Sunset Blvd. in Pacific Palisades, CA in May and June of 1989.

During his career he has been contracted to create artwork that has ranged from architectural renderings for a Los Angeles based developer, logos for various businesses including those for the motion picture industry, and an album cover for a Los Angeles based Bluegrass band. His works have been sold to private collectors in the Malibu and Southern California area. Requests for his work have also been received from Art Base Gallery in Singapore, giving him international recognition. Throughout his gallery career, he has been the featured artist in most of the galleries he has shown in.

In his paintings, he has worked in a variety of media which include oils, acrylics, and watercolors. His primary medium today is watercolor where his style is the use of soft pastel-like qualities. This style is quite different from his earlier bold colored hard-edge graphic style of the his Malibu Period.

In the late 1980's he began to teach himself the art of Bronze Sculpture. To date he has completed two finished bronzes the first titled, "Peace" and the second titled, "The Amazon" . He currently has three additional sculptures that are completed and ready for the foundry which include, "Spirit Woman", "Awaiting" and "The Girl with the Pearl Earring" a three dimensional bust of the 16th Century artist Vermeer's painting of the same name.

Though an accomplished landscape painter as well, he prefers the female figure as his subject. It has been his belief that the female figure captures the widest range of emotions of any other subject. One can clearly see this in the eyes of his women, which often seem to follow a person around the room.

Roger McKasson currently works from his Studio/Gallery in Rodeo New Mexico which was remodeled from an old cottage. His works are created and marketed from there. Roger currently has 2 sculptures at Desert Crucible Foundry in Tucson, Az. Work on new projects continue for both sculptures and paintings.
